Hey Mums and Dads!

Mother_daughter_flowers_webDo you remember the ‘olden days’ when kids would be outside getting their hands dirty, building a tree house and chasing the chooks? The problem now is that there are so many things indoors for kids to do that they forget that they can have fun outside as well.

Of course, not all kids are interested in running around the footy oval or riding on their bike but all kids need to be active.  Did you know that thirty minutes of gardening is the equivalent of thirty minutes of walking?  So, as the kids are bending, lifting, raking and planting in the garden, they are doing exercise without even knowing it.

We hope that the Smarty Plants range of seedlings and the website make it easier for you to motivate your children to get out into the garden and grow their own vegetables and perhaps even bring them inside to learn how to cook.  The information on this website is written with kids in mind but it also gives you the tools and knowledge so that you can feel more confident to get outdoors and garden with your children.

GROWING OUR CHILDREN’S FUTURE

Smarty Plants is a kids’ range of seedlings that:

Encourages kids to be active in the garden.

Gives kids the skills and knowledge they need to grow their own
herbs, vegetables and flowers successfully.

Persuades kids to eat healthier foods such as vegetables
because they have grown themselves.

Makes it easier for parents to be healthy role models through gardening as it gives them the
knowledge and confidence to undertake simple gardening activities with their children.

Gives teachers the information and tools that they need to integrate gardening
into their regular classroom programs.

Have a dig around!
