When you start digging you find that businesses all over Australia are supporting community groups that are trying to encourage kids into gardening and other active pursuits.
If you are part of a kids group such as a youth group, scouts group, kindergarten, daycare centre or even a group organised by your primary or high school, take a look at the Junior Landcare website. It has several grants available that might help your group get started on an environmental or garden project.
One of these is the 2013 Coles Junior Landcare School Garden Grant which provides up to $1000 for schools and youth groups to help create gardens in their grounds or the community. It might be an edible garden, bush tucker garden or waterwise garden but whatever it is, it needs to encourage kids to experience the environment through ‘outdoor learning’.
The Application Form and Criteria are all on the Junior Landcare website. Round 1 closes 5pm (AEDT) Friday, 15 February 2013.
So, get growing!
Happy Gardening,
